SDP exploiting student unions to spread SDP propaganda

In light of the removal of reports of SDP's visit to the NTU campus,
In light of the controversy over the banning of the news reports of the SDP in the Nanyang Chronicle and Nanyang Spectrum, I would like to ask the NTUSU if it would organise a forum where we can address the students of NTU.

There is obvious interest among your fellow students in our message and I am sure that the NTUSU is also interested in ensuring that the student body is exposed to a diversity of views and opinions. A forum where we can speak would go a long way towards this end.
(Note that SDP used the term "banning" of the news reports, when it was only a removal from the newspapers)

SDP seems to be very interested in microcosm. Being a small party and securing few votes in elections, SDP feels that a crowd of less than 50 students meant the majority of NTU students. Now we know why SDP fails to win elections, cuz' it has a small box and it thinks within it.

Jokes aside, the SDP has from time to time acted in an irresponsible way. SDP choice of contacting the student union instead of the school shows how it seeks to undermine authority. Without respect for authority, how then could SDP command respect?

Furthermore, it was NTU President Su Guaning who requested for the removal of the reports. SDP should have sent a letter to him instead and reason it out.

The likely outcome of a forum would most likely instill resentment of the school authority into students. With biased views and rude comments from SDP, students might fall into the myths that it attempts to create.

Challenge to the SDP!

SDP proclaimed that many NUS, NTU students are keen to know more about SDP and its views. We hereby challenge the SDP to organise a seminar and invite the varsity students to attend it. Then we will certainly know how many students are actually interested about SDP's views.

Not living up to the challenge would mean:
  • SDP is not sincere in spreading its message to students
  • SDP merely wants to tap on student bodies to achieve its aims - spread SDP propaganda
  • SDP does not garner much support from students after all
  • SDP prefers to have Hawaiian Parties than spreading its message

  1. NTU's management should organize a joint forum for CSJ, JBJ, SL, LTK, Chia Thye Poh and PAP.
Allow students to question all parties as this will encourage critical thinking.
It is high time PAP debate openly with all opposition parties and NTU is a good avenue because our young men and women are the future.

  4. I applaud what u are doing, not many people have the guts to do it or rather willing to do it although there might be people out there who think like you :)

This makes info from the internet---all rounded :) Everywhere people can read different views!

I agree with 'critical mind'...i wonder PAP leaders will turn up a not if invitation is given to them cos I know that they turn down or in fact never reply to an invitation to a forum held by an opposition.

But this is indeed a way to encourage critical thinking which is beneficial to the country!

  5. I think this is a brilliant idea so no any one party can claim that they are the best. Let the students be the judges, after all they are the brainic ones who will be the next new generation of Singapore.

See, there's a Wayang Party blog that was set up for a long time but WP supporters never give this type of comments. SDP ask people to close blog down. Democratic party?????

SDP will be worse in everything that the PAP is currently guilty of if they get into power. SPREAD THE MESSAGE!

  7. Have to agree. SDP wants both PAP and WP down. These are the 2 biggest parties. Just like PAP wants WP and SDP down. SDP same as PAP? Does SDP want to dominate politics like PAP now by differentiating itself from all parties?

Thought WP is suppose to be closer to SDP in objectives.

  8. FEAR OF SDP.

I AM NO SDP SUPPORTER BUT I TRULY CANT UNDERSTAND WHAT'S WRONG WITH SHARING LOCAL POLITICS WITH STUDENTS. I AM BRAINWASHED SINCE ENTERING SCHOOL. NOW I AM NOT. I HOPE NO SINGAPOREANS YOUNG ADULTS ARE. AS FOR WP, SO SIMILAR TO PAP THERE IS NO DIFF. DEMOCRATIC MOVEMENTS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE VISIBLE TO NAKED EYE NOT SITTING IN PARLIAMENT AND NODDING WHEN PM ASK HIM SHOULD WKS RESIGN? THAT'S NOT WHAT OPPOSITION IS SUPPOSED TO BEHAVE. WHEN NO CHECK AND BALANCE IS CREATED YOU HAVE MORE TROUBLE AHEAD. JUST LOOK AT OUR US$18B OF INVESTMENTS.

  9. Sorry, who nodded when LHL asked if WKS should resign? My own answer is asking for WKS to resign can be portrayed in the wrong way. Everyday prisoners escape from UK and US. Did any minister resign? Saying yes means they become PAP dogs. Our Opposition MPs did the right thing by not answering the stupid question by LHL.

Now on SDP. This blog pointed out that SDP is same as PAP. Same propaganda methods, same biased stories and they enjoy expensive dinners when Singapreans are suffering!

Please note that we will adopt SDP-style of allowing no-reply-to-comments-and-no-allowing-of-anonymous-comments approach
